The SKH Hockey Alumni Charity Classic will take place February 3, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Goulds Arena. The 2017 St. Kevin’s Mavericks Hockey Team will face off against the St. Kevin’s Mavericks Alumni All-star Team which we are happy to announce will include local celebrity Allan Hawco suiting up for his old high school team. The hockey promises to be fast, the game will be close and the smiles will be plenty. Most importantly, raising funds for local people in need through donations at the door and a 50/50 draw. The St. Kevin’s Mavericks Hockey Team are partnering with the Goulds Recreation Association to include this game as a special event in the Goulds Winter Carnival. The event will start at 6:00 p.m with the opening ceremonies of the Winter Carnival, followed by the puck drop at 6:15, with the post-game charity presentations taking place at 7:45 p.m. In 2016, the St. Kevin’s Mavericks Hockey Charity Classic raised $1800. The money raised helped a family in the Goulds that has experienced numerous medical difficulties over the past few years. This Year the team will make two donations to families in the Goulds community that are currently going through difficult times. SKH Hockey would like to announce that one of the recipients of this years donations will be Megan Murphy. Megan, a Grade 6 student at St. Kevin's Junior High, was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer earlier this fall. She has been battling this ugly disease ever since and we want to show her that the Maverick community has her back. This is a great community event with a great cause. We encourage all members of the hockey community, the Maverick community and Gould’s community to come out and support a great group of young men that are trying to make a difference the best way they know how.
